Meet Dr. Cat

Catherine Savoia, PT, DPT, CIDN, AIB-VRC
Owner and Doctor of Physical Therapy

Dr. Catherine (Cat) Savoia, a Boston native, began her love for the human body with dance. She began her dance training at a local studio at the age of 2. Her passion for movement and love of art drove her to begin teaching. In 2007, she completed a three summer Dance Teachers Training program at the age of 17.  Her professional dance training continued in New York at Hofstra University, where she graduated Suma Cum Laude with her Bachelors of Science in Dance Education.  She went on to become certified to teach K-12 in New York Public schools. She studied all styles of dance with most emphasis on Ballet and Modern. After graduation Cat went on to teach at multiple studios and give master classes in Ballet, Modern, and Contemporary dance.

However, after multiple dance injuries over the years, Cat realized the lack of dance specific rehabilitation options and lack of specialists for injured dancers. Her avidity for movement and efficiency propelled her toward filling this need for Dance Medicine. Cat graduated from Northern Arizona University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2016. There, she fell in love with all forms of rehabilitation. In her career, Cat has worked with a wide variety of injuries, extending from severe neurological injuries to athletes. As she has honed in on her skills, she specializes in dance injuries, performing arts rehabilitation, concussion, TMJ disorders, dysautonomia, EDS/ HSD, cervicogenic dizziness and headaches, as well as vertigo, vestibular dysfunction and balance disorders.

Shortly after beginning her career in 2016, Dr. Cat began having her own health issues and began a long journey without answers. She has since resolved many of these issues, but has lasting limitations due to Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and dysautonomia/ POTS. This has driven her career to treat people with and educate people about EDS/HSD, POTS, and other chronic illnesses. Since experiencing her own 8 year journey with chronic illness, Dr. Cat has invaluable experience and understanding on treating these diagnoses and caring for people who have suffered "healthcare trauma" and invalidation.

Cat is certified in Integrative Dry Needling, Vestibular Rehabilitation & Concussion, and Nutrition for Chronic Pain. Her skill set also includes, but is not limited to neural manipulation by Barral Institute, cupping, and IASTM. She enjoys using her skills and tools to develop an individualized program for each patient to reach their maximum potential in daily activities, to prevent injuries, and to progress safely to return to high level activities.

In her free time Cat enjoys yoga, hiking with her husband, going to the dog park with her two fur babies (Zoey and Lola), reading, and going to brunch.
